Aesthetics

Dr Kynan generally caters to male patients who are interested in improving fine lines and wrinkles on the face. We believe the best cure, is prevention. When fine lines progress into wrinkles, they can be difficult to treat without using fillers. As such, using anti-wrinkle treatments such as Botox or Dysport should be done early in life for best results, not waiting until wrinkles appear and become permanent.

Botulinum Toxins are very safe medications which achieve desired results for around 4-5 months. We use a conservative approach to your first treatment, with a revisit generally needed for 'top ups'.

We do not offer fillers at this practice, as it is Dr Kynan's opinion that there are concerns with migration over many years of use resulting in un-aesthetically 'plump' faces.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

After Care

While cosmetic injections are a relatively time-friendly and convenient treatment, it can take anywhere from 4-7 days for you to see a difference, with the full effect visible after two weeks. Something to remember when you’re timing your treatment for a special event.

Depending on the sensitivity of your skin and any medications (like aspirin, ibuprofen, and other blood thinners) you may be taking, there is the chance of temporary, minor side effects including:

  • Mild swelling at or around the injection site

  • Mild tenderness or bruising at or around the injection site

  • Tiny red dots at the injection site

  • A mild headache, depending on the treatment area

DO:

  • Remain upright for four hours following your treatment and avoid lying down while the protein settles into place

  • Delay any facials or invasive dermal treatments like microdermabrasion, skin needling, or dermal rolling for two weeks after anti-wrinkle injections

  • Keep your face moving. Frown, laugh, smile as you would normally as this will help the protein to be more quickly absorbed in the targeted muscle.

  • Avoid alcohol and painkillers before and after treatment as they tend to thin the blood and can make you prone to bruising

DON’T:

  • Exercise less than 12 hours after your treatment. We also recommend avoiding any exercise that involves inverted poses (eg yoga, pilates, barre etc) while the anti-wrinkle injection is settling into place during this time

  • Expose your skin to excessive heat or cold including saunas, spas, steam rooms, hot yoga, ice baths or skiing. Changes in temperature can lead to you touching or rubbing your face more which can put unwanted pressure on the treated muscles, risking dispersion of the protein into unwanted areas

  • Massage or apply pressure to the face which can affect how it settles in a particular area. When cleansing the skin and applying skin care and makeup use gentle strokes
